✡️ YOM KIPPUR: Commences on September 20th

CHRIST OUR ATONEMENT

Rest in the Finished Work

September 20, 2026 | 9 Tishrei 5787 → Yom Kippur begins at sundown

There is a point in every return when striving must give way to surrender.

For forty days, we have watched.
We have searched.
We have confessed.
We have repaired.
We have released.
We have listened.
We have obeyed.
We have remembered.
We have awakened.
We have stood in the gap.

And now we come to the threshold of Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement.

The 40 Days of Fasting and Prayer Guide brings us here with a simple but weighty focus:

CHRIST OUR ATONEMENT.

“Rest in the finished work of Christ; serve the living God freely.” Hebrews 9:14

This is NOT the moment to prove ourselves worthy. It is the moment to come before God with reverent repentance and gratitude for His cleansing.

“Thank God for cleansing and approach Him with reverent repentance.”

Tonight, as Yom Kippur begins, let the watchman lay down the burden of self-justification.

You do not need to hide what God is asking you to surrender.

You do not need to defend what He has exposed.

You do not need to carry into 5787 what repentance has already given you permission to release.

Bring it to Him.

Bring the sin.
Bring the sorrow.
Bring the failure.
Bring the unfinished places.
Bring the things you finally saw clearly.

And then —

rest.

Not in your perfection.

In Christ.

The goal of this fast was never simply to go without food. The guide reminds us that fasting may also mean surrendering noise, comforts, habits, media, or distractions — making room for repentance, attention, obedience, and prayer.

That room has been made.

Now fill it with worship.

Fill it with gratitude.

Fill it with the quiet confidence that the living God has made a way for us to draw near.

WATCH

What has God allowed me to see about myself during these forty days?

WEIGH

What must I repent of, release, repair, or stop carrying?

WALK

What does faithful surrender look like now that I know what I know?

Tonight, don’t just ask:“What am I leaving behind?”

Ask: “What am I now free to walk into?”

The watchman does not watch forever from the wall.

There comes a time to come before the King.

Tonight, come.

Repent.

Receive.

Rest.

And remember:

CHRIST IS OUR ATONEMENT.

✡️ YOM KIPPUR 5787
Come with reverence. Come with repentance. Come with gratitude. Come resting in the finished work of Christ.

The watch is not about earning God’s attention.
It is about becoming attentive to God.
