God watches over His Word to perform it

📖 “God watches over His Word to perform it” – What does it mean?

This phrase comes from Jeremiah 1:12 (NASB):

“Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.’”

In Hebrew, the word for “watching” is שָׁקַד (shaqad), which means to be alert, sleepless, vigilant—like a watchman or guard. God is saying that He is alert and vigilant, standing over His Word like a watchman to ensure it comes to pass. His Word is not idle or dormant—it’s alive, purposeful, and always moving toward fulfillment.

God doesn’t forget or neglect what He speaks. Instead, He oversees every syllable until the appointed time for its manifestation. This means His promises, prophecies, covenants, and even judgments are never lost in time. He is faithful to act on what He has declared.
