What Is A Shamar Prophet?

What Is A Shamar Prophet?

The Hebrew word shamar (שָׁמַר) means to keep, guard, watch over, preserve, or give careful attention to.

A shamar prophet is one who faithfully watches over the Word of God while remaining attentive to the movement of His Spirit. Their first responsibility is not prediction but stewardship—to guard truth, discern the times, and proclaim God’s message with humility, wisdom, and biblical integrity.

This calling may be expressed through many different avenues, including:

  • Teaching God’s Word
  • Prophetic ministry
  • Intercessory prayer
  • Writing
  • Creative arts
  • Mentoring and discipleship
  • Biblical research
  • Vision casting and leadership

Because God often weaves together multiple gifts within one calling, a shamar prophet may minister through several expressions while remaining anchored in one foundation: the authority of Scripture.

The purpose of this ministry is to educate, equip, and encourage believers who desire to hear God’s voice more clearly, understand His Word more deeply, and faithfully fulfill their God-given assignments.

Above all, the heart of a shamar prophet is to help people know Christ, treasure His Word, discern His leading, and respond with obedient faith.

Welcome to the Watch. Welcome to the Word. Welcome to the journey.
